Cylinder 3 is the rearmost, driver's side. The threads you need have a bung in them, it's about 25-30mm across with a 8mm hex hole in the centre. You need a LONG 8mm Allen key to get at it.
You can see the bung on top of cyl3 down in front of the intercooler and the turbo, access is better with the intercooler off.

Adaptors for gauge senders can be had from most gauge suppliers. Around £5-10

You can also get an oil filter adapter plate with multiple bungs in it.Fit it and then use the bungs you want .

But don't expect accurate readings: the tapping over No3 cylinder is there for a reason

Alcazar is right. The plate just makes an easy and tidy fitment of the kit, especially for a DIY'R. Although I have fitted loads of plates and never had a problem.
