Default Uprated fuel pump query

Hi,

I was having a debate earlier with a friend. He seems to think that fitting a Walbro uprated fuel pump will increase fuel consumption. I told him he was talking nonsense, and that it would just pump more efficiently. Whos right?

Its the ecu what determines how much fuel is used. The pump is just the tool used and has a better capacity if the ecu were to be mapped to want more.
