Default TD05 16G RIP

Hi took the scooby out yesterday for a run and as i was taking off i hit boost in second gear and then it felt like i hit a brick wall. so i pulled over and looked under the bonnet but the engine was running nice no smoke out the back no split boost hoses. Drove the car home had no power no boost so i guss the turbo is dead. Is ther a VF turbo out ther witch will out perform the 16G with better spool and better top end power or stick with a TD05 16G.

surely if it was the turbo gone, you'd at least have some smoke coming out the exhaust, some noise etc?? as mentioned it sounds more like a hose has come off, have you checked IC for holes? checked all pipework?

As above, I'd not suspect the turbo from your description.

if your turbo was dead you would have smoke and or loud noises. suspect overboost due to piping or actuator problem.

No engine light when i hit second gear it went at about 4500 RPM so just as it hit 1.3 bar. Then i got a high pitch squeal then nothing. After stooping and having a look under the bonnet i drove the car home witch was a good 5 miles
and driving the car home no turbo whistle or any boost reading on the gauge or boost controller and the car felt so flat with no power?

Sounds like a pipe mate, could be a blow somewhere. To check a blow, have engine running and get a piece of hose pipe, put one side to you ear the other side go round the engine bay, check about headers up pipe.

Or if a pipe have a look around all pipe for cracks or splits.

If turbo goes you'll know about it so will other, smoke and a lot of noise.

Does sound like its in limp home mode, maybe check your ecu for fault codes, as might have hit fuel cut, and might have saved something which is stopping it, to be on the safe side.
MAF maybe.???

i had the same problem and suffered no smoke. replaced the turbo and it was fine.
The amount of people who tried to say it was this and that was unreal. if in doubt let a garage see it
