what block do I have?

I have a uk 2005 sti....is it semi closed block as standard?

Is there a list somewhere of what cars have which please?

Your car has a semi closed deck block, the early classics had the closed deck block and post 96 cars have the open deck block. The 22b is the only exception and has a closed deck 2.2 block.

Just out of curiosity - is the closed block the ones with no coil pack on top of the engine (pre 96)????

Also, does either one have any benefits or advantages over the other????
