Default Bonnet Scoop - Why?

I have been wondering why the Impreza needs a scoop to direct air into the intake?

I have run a number of cars which are significantly more powerful, bigger engined, higher revving and none of these have needed a scoop.

So why do Impreza's need one? Is the under bonnet design just inefficient or what?

Cold air direct to the Intercooler, same reason why the other cars with scoops have them

They dont. The scoop is to direct air onto the intercooler.

Why front scoop is for one reason and this is TMIC(Top Mount Intercooler). If you are running FMIC keep this for future like is Oil cooler.

Why did/do Subaru go with a TMIC though? FMIC is a better solution isn't it so why not change it over time?

TX.

Less lag due to the shorter pipework.
