Default white smoke advice needed

hello all, i need some advice with my 1994 wrx.
For the last month every morning when i've started the car, i've noticed that as soon as it starts the car missfires and the idle is low, i have to give it a rev to clear it up, once i've done this the car would run mint all day.

Now over the last 3 mornings when i start the car it's the same spluttery missfire but i get a relatively big cloud of white smoke out the exhaust and it'll run a bit crap for the first couple of minutes until it warms up, once it's warm it again drives perfectly with no missfiring etc.

i'm assuming i've gotta change the head gaskets but before i do is there anywhere else water can enter the cylinders i.e inlet manifold etc?

Also whats a descent head gasket to use for 300bhp?

TIA

i think it is using it tbh, it's dropped a bit over the last couple of weeks, albeit not much though.

I'm not 100% it is the head gasket yet hence why i'm asking if there's other places it can be coming from, it's just looking that way tbh.

check oil and smell the dipstick, if it stinks of petrol then you've been over fuelling and have whats known as bore wash. It sounds similarto my 95 wrx. So far I've learnt that it could be a bad map - as its been doing the same as yours since triton mapped it - or it could be a faulty lambda. It also means piston rings need replacing and then you gotta hope no further damage is done :s
