boost control
i have a perrin 3 port fitted on my newage sti and get different boost readings on my defi gauge.
i run simtec with 2 maps, first is set to 1 bar and never goes over that.the second map set for 1.4 bar but on heavy acceleration its shoots to max on the gauge...how can i tell if the 3 port is ok???
any ideas??

if it's controlling the first map ok then i would say the 3 port is ok,
when it goes to max do you mean it goes to 1.4 straight away or the max reading on the gauge? if so what is the max reading on the gauge.

running an 321t mate!!!
when its maxs,i mean 2 bar on the defi...all the way and then back down to 1.4 or 1.5..
if i drive up gears easy its fine but if i floor it,it goes off scale!!!
i agree with ya on the 1.0 bar theory therefore the 3 port should be ok...
really dont know but afraid of damaging the engine.it was only mapped less than 2k miles ago but a well know uk mapper in the south..

Defi's are known to over-read ( by 0.1 bar typically ), but unless your engine is a big money built motor, mappers will allow boost to fall towards the rev. limit.
Mine indicates 1.65 bar as a maximum ( usually ! ) on a std ecu. which only allows 1.45 bar IIRC.
E-mail said mapper for feedback, most aren't in it to just make money, they actually enjoy doing it and learning about the problems that occur...
IMHO
dunx
P.S. Mine managed 2.1 bar a couple of times... Opps !

I have seen these boost creep before, whilst on the high boost map either unplug your perrin solenoid or fit a short length of pipe between your turbo outlet offtake and the actuator then take it for a run in 3rd and 4th, keep it wide open throttle and see if the boost rises well over 1 bar.
