Hi Guys,
What is the best oil to put in at the 1000 mile service on a MY2001 JPN spec STI for year round hot climate like in The Bahamas ??
The standard is a synthetic 5 - 50 no ??
Thanks,
Ray

As I understand it the colder the climate the thinner the oil needed... and vice versa
The viscosity is shown by numbers
0W-30 being extremely thin (too thin for subaru)
ie. 10W-60
15W-50 would be ideal for your climate...
I live in Switzerland and it's still very cold in the mornings
so I'm sticking with 5W-50 Mobil 1 (yes in Switzerland this still
exists.)
I will swop to 10W-60 or 15W-50 in summer..
P.S. I would also use a fully synthetic oil!
Plums.

My previous answer was for after the car had been fully run in
after about 7500 miles some people say you shouldn't put fully
synthetic oil in a Scooby before that time.....
Sorry!
