Hope it's nothing to do with disconnecting your head unit
Don't know a great deal about these engines (yet) but could it be a problem with the ECU? Sounds like you've checked everything else.
Have you tried resetting the ECU (don't know if this would help but might be worth a try)?

Jay still got no choons in my car!!!!!!! cant believe i sold you that head unit! must be mad gonna give the car to the guys at PE to have a look at on friday, the worst thing about it is that it seems to be intermitent now, i have just finished work and thought i should give the car a bit of boost once she'd warmed up and guess what??? full power????????????????
might change the fuel filter as well, last resorts.......

Yeah fuel filter, or fuel pump might be worth looking at. Good luck - let us know the outcome.
Still getting used to the MP3 setup, have set up different folders for differnet genres/albums and have sorted out all the ID3 tags so they display properly - nice bit of kit though
What was that software you said you used? Music something....?
