I wish this was ture but am afraid its not, even though its an import it must still comply with UK MOT emission rules!! the only way to get arond this rule is to have pre cat classic car like my MK1 1969 Escort, or get a very nice man at a back street garage to ignore your emission results (illegal). Next step for you will be to get a cat for the MOT and remove it afterwards!!!!

i believe it depends on when in 95 ur car was made. i have a 96 wrx v limited which i know was made in 95 but the dvla think was 96 so im in process of getting it re-registered. if its early 95(b4 aug i think) you shouldnt need a cat for mot.
thats why im trying to get mine classed as the 95 it is, so i can take my cat off.

I stand corrected it seems there is a loop hole with imports

http://www.btinternet.com/~netsurf/m...es/mot-cat.gif

so if it was reg before 31 July 1995 (M) then no cat is needed for the MOT.

you learn something new every day LOL

It's all down to that last diamond

"Can you find an
exact match in the
analyser database or the In-
Service Emissions
book?(2)

If an 'exact' match is found then it will be tested to those parameters.

Unless some one has access those pubilcations (the In-Service Emissions book and the analyser database) for us to check, then it is still a grey area

What's classed as a 'passenger car'?

Silly question, but if you take out all the seats bar the drivers, would that count?
