Engine check light wont go
Peeps.i have a 2001 bug wrx.basic mods,exhaust,panel etc. on saturday my cel came on on the way to work after driving gently.when i got home i disconnected the battery for a couple of hours but it didnt remove the light.
now my friend gave me a supersonic dv 2 weeks ago to replace the tatty baileys one just to experiance the differance really and i cannot for love nor money find the original in the shed (dogs eaten it maybe!!).its going on as soon as i do tho.anyway,the exhaust sometimes pops a little on over-run especially when driving gently and when down changing.this is nothing new but since fitting the dv i have noticed a firm 'pop' in the downpipe area (catted) when changing up from time to time!!
this is new and it did pop at the time the light came on.if i go under the bonnet and rev it to say 3000-3500 rpm,so the dv starts to hiss itl pop when the revs go down but wont pop if revved to 2000 and below.(its always a single pop too)
i also thought the up-pipe/down-pipe could be blowing a little or it could just be the engines characteristic noise but if it was would this cause the pop and would it throw up a cel.(o2 sensor?)any help appreciated

Bug connectors are renound to have connection issues.
Get the fault code read out my friend.
You'll know for definate the exact area of concern, instead of assuming the new dump valve is the issue.
I find my 2002 bug pops only on over run, when i had an exhaust leak, it was popping all over the shop!

cheers guys,ive a decent code reader on order now and hopefully have it by tomoz.and rookymatt it sounds you had similar problem.
maybe it is just co-incidence then lol!
oh and can anybody tell me wether the rubber seals on the dv body(under the blue adjuster) should seal?? as i have repaced them thinking that they ought too!
