P reg is 1:11 odds on that you have a MY97 - is the coilpack in the centre of the inlet manifold?

(Someone will know whether the 8S is a MY97 ECU and let you know anyway....)

If so then yes, currently need Apexi PFC or Simtek as the most cost-effective mappable ECUs.

The ESL Live daughterboard is imminent for the MY97/98, but, as yet, isn't commercially available AFAIK(?)

you are right joz the 8s is either replace for stand alone or wait for the ESL board to be released when? who knows?

Pretty much. If you hunt about and if you get lucky, you'll prob pick an Apexi PFC and Commander on here for around £400 - not much less these days. It needs to be the correct one for the MY97/98 cars. The code on it should read "PFC GC8D..." You'd have to add a full remap on top which would typically be £350 from most mappers. I think JGM might be £250 + VAT = £293.75, though.

Simtek is around a £grand fitted/mapped. If you do a search, then you'll see how these 2 ECU options compare with their features....
