Brembo brake upgrade help needed.
Hi,
I have a 1996 STi Ra 555. I've been offered a set of front and rear Brembo brakes, (four pot front, two pot rear). The rear drums have been machined to accept the standard brake shoes and there is the adapter bracket for the calipers.
Two questions, will the front calipers fit under 17" Prodrive Oz alloys and is there an issue with the Sti rear brakes as I've been told they are slightly different to standard WRX.
Any help will be appreciated, thanks,
Mike

I have replied to your PM , but for anyone else wondering -
Hi mike
I dont know of any OZ wheels they will fit under without wheel spacers , its not the diameter but the offset of the discs and callipers that is the problem , the calipers hit the spokes on most wheels
They will bolt straight onto the front , the rear usually need the mounting bracket and thicker handbrake shoes to fit them , reading your thread it looks as though the discs have got a steel ring fitted in them to make the handbrake diameter smaller to fit the standard shoes , and you already have the mounting brackets , so the rears should also fit straight on , the rears don't have issues fitting them under the wheels , just the fronts
Hope this helps
Cheers Ian

Thanks for all the input.
I have decided to go for the standard Subaru 4 & 2 pot setup now. The compound on my present brake pads is very hard which doesn't aid cold brake stopping. I'm not too happy with the idea of having spacers and having just bought the Oz alloys, don't want to sell them.
