assume its a 6spd box there right on the top in the middle ish, can be done by sticking your arm along the top of the gearbox with a spanner and taking it out.
either the plastic plunger wears out and it doesnt push it up far enough or the contacts inside break down, basically it tells the ecu whether your in gear and moving or sat idle doing nothing its there for the purpose of the variable valve timing

very tight but can be done, lower the gearbox cradle and if your skinny enough you can reach it. if memory serves me right there bout £45 quid from dealer.
when you remove your old one it will most likely start working fine when pressed a few times , believe its mainly for the ecu to send the signal for the avcs heads

Scatty... just dug out my invoice from Tracktive from when I had it done, about £50 for the switch and £50 fitting. Looked fiddly as ****, took Richard about 30 minutes of rooting with his hands deep in the nether regions of my car.
I know you're a mechanical genius, but I'd leave it to the experts!
