Inlet restrictor
hey,
I have a guy interested in my 2003 UK STi,however he wants to rally it and the MSA require a 32 or 34m turbo restrictor, the guy called me today to asked if it has any restrictor in as standard, and if not, what will power drop to with said restrictor?
is this restrictor the turbo inlet? i'm not too sure...
I think the guy just wants a round about BHP figure once this restrictor is fitted,
here's my car's spec...
Group N panel filter
3-port prodrive boost solenoid
silicone intake hose
magnex de-cat to prodrive back box
mapped by RaceDynamix
Rolling roaded at Scooby clinic showing 332 BHP

I do know that turboed rally cars run silly high boost to overcome the restricter, would prob need a remap to suit after its fitted. im guessing it would be more of a drop up at the top end of the rev range.

That's the standard size turbo inlet i think, maybe wrong. I know the spec c's as standard are ready for rallying meeting all the requirements bar the roll cage.

Yes power would drop as the restrictor they have to run is very small and effectively strangles the turbo beyond 3500 rpm.
As such they run huge boost to overcome this until the restriction in the flow kills the peak power.
Would need a different turbo - most of them seem to run roller bearing turbos that are better able to stand the abuse and have a lower boost threshold.
Obviously needs mapping to suit.
