An ecu reset wouldn't be a bad idea as it will clear all the history fault codes held on the ecu. So if you get a problem after that you know its a new one!!
If you follow the scoobypedia link -
http://www.scoobypedia.co.uk/index.p...gECUCodes#toc3 you will find on there how to reset your ecu, but the short version is thus.....
Plug the 2 green connectors and the 2 small black ones under the dash (green to green + black to black) and then start and drive till the CEL flashes constantly. Stop, turn off the engine and unplug both sets of connectors again, job done!!

I tried the ecu reset can someone confirm how long i need to have the plugs connected to each other because all though the intial problem of the car cuttin out has gone (just replaced MAF sensor) it now sputters on accelaration. I dont think the ecu has cleared properly

Bare in mind though everything is reset so it then has to relearn and get new numbers for knock correction and the advance multiplier etc so it might take a bit of running before its 'happy' again So don't worry if it runs a bit lumpy for a day or so, just drive normally and it should sort itself out....
If this does not happen at all and the CEL will not flash constantly after the reset it means there is still a fault present, so if you plug the black plugs in again it should give you the fault that is causing the problem...

Thanks for that i will drive it normally for the next day or so and see if it clears up if not i will try the black cable diagnostic will let you know cheers again

Ok guys the intial problem of it cutting out has been solved by replacing the MAF it did however throw up faults 23 and 24 which whne i reset the ecu cleared but now the car runs and splutters with any kind of excelaration and a new fault popped up number 32 which i think is for the lambda sensor anyone know where this is on 2000 turbo

Hmmm.... Lambda sensor you say?? If its the one i'm thinking of its right at the top of the downpipe on the right hand side - as you look at the engine stood at the front.
Very easy swap to do, simply remove the I/C and the sensor simply unscrews from the downpipe and there's one wire that plugs into the loom. You may need to remove the turbo heatshield if its in the way too but thats simple too (once the I/C is off).
Unfortunately (for your wallet) the hard part is paying for the sensor, think it was around the £100 mark
As before though once you've fitted the sensor, reset the ecu and hopefully all will be well, i'll cross mi fingers for ya fella!!

Ok so swapped the 02 sensor which has removed the fault 32 but car still running really lumpy on accel. I swapped the MAF back for the old one and car lumpyness is gone but back to orignal problem of really bad idle once warm constantly dropping from 1200 to 200 or cutting out ( with no CEL codes showing). Dont understand as the MAF sensor i bought was brand new and now im back to square one any sugggestions?????

Take it someone that knows that they're looking at to properly diagnose it. It will take maybe an hour or less and cost you much less in time and agro in the long term.
