Hi!

A buddy of mine needs a standalone ECU for his v5 TypeRA. Considering all the options seems like Simtek is the best. However there is no Simtek dealer in Latvia and Simteks are only sold installed. So we figured out that we can buy a used Simtek and map it ourselves (I've mapped a bunch of Subarus and Evos for last 3 years). As I get it, there is a possibility to buy 'customer software kit' from Steven, but I have no idea does it have all the necessary functions for mapping / log analysis and about any other possible issues.

So, my question is: is it possible to buy a used Simtek, buy software from Steve and map the ECU?

tbh find a traveling mapper who can fit and map it, or drive over to uk, you wont be the first or have come the futhest lol
