Default Help on stopping

Hi all i have fitted some standard 4 pots to my 1995 wrx, I have bleed all 4 wheels and just been out for a drive. Now when i brake i have hardly any brakes. When i got home i noticed on that on the passenger side the disc is clean of the light rust and the drivers side has a band about 1inch thick of clear disc and the rest of the disc still has the light rust (car has been stood for 4 weeks) could this be that that caliper needs bleeding again
Thanks Neil

Did you fit new discs and pads too, did you check the sliders on the caliper before fitting?

Could try bleeding them again.

Ian Godney might be along soon to help you out

To add: It is prob the best mod i've done on mine

At a guess as you have fitted 4 pots you have also fitted discs to suit along with pads that havent been used on that disc before ?

If so,pretty normal to have cack pedal power for a while, depending on how soft the pad is,they are just bedding in

i fitted some new discs with the very hard red EBC,took 4 weeks for them to bed in properly, i had the rust band (from when it rained) for bloody ages, i also had to help them on their way and use grit paper to get rid of the rust groove as it was forming quite thick (as we had rain every day for 3 weeks !)

Thanks for your replys.I got the disc's calipers and pads of here as a set second hand so all have worked together before just seems a bit strange. Pedal goes goes all the way down then you get the braking bit

Yes sorry 4 pots

Thanks Neil

Peddle shouldn't goto the floor. You have put the calipers on the right sides havn't you, it sounds daft but if you fit them on the wrong sides the they are upside down and cannot be bled correctly because the bleed nipple is at the bottom and the air remains at the top of the chamber, if that makes sense

Yes it makes sense. No both nipples at the top. What do you mean by the sliders. I painted them before putting them on so took the 2 pins out that hold the pads
Thanks Neil

Just to add, when i did mine i drained the fluid completly and replaced it with DOT 5.1 fluid and replaced the hoses with stainless braided ones (HEL or Goodridge are good) and i bled mine the old fashion way, rear passenger, rear drivers, front passenger then front drivers and went round again (A one man bleed kit from Halfrauds is worth every penny imo) as i was unaware of the diagram in that thread and they are tops

Yeah best bet. If everything is in good nick (pads, discs, pistons/seals and master cylinder) it can only be air in the system
