would cutting the bumper be the same principle too ?

The best thing to do is to trim and refit the bumper bit by bit to get a good fit. Keep shaving a few mm's off at a time until the bumper goes back on and just clears the FMIC

The front bumper does need cutting quite alot the center of the bumper and behind the fog lights as above do little at a time
