Default boost?

whats the best way to check my boost level?

i have a boost guage, but when on chat, it says 1.8/1.9bar
know ive only fitted a 1.7bat map sencer.

how do i check that its not just the boost gauge playing up
the car runs great, but i was asking around regards a wrining sound when boosting up, and told this level of boost is out of range.

dont want to blow the car up.
so just need to get it checked out.

or could it be the map sencer is on its way out.
the car is an early classic, runing 341.4bhp using the live map board.
and a td05 16g.

any ideas

ye, he did.

ive pm'ed him. but he must be really busy
the car runs great, so shouldnt be the map, but told by area 52 the boost shouldnt being runing no where near this level. and that could couse the sound im getting

just want to check every thing out, before taking it anywhere.
im sure when simon is less busy, he'll galadly get back to me
i've checked the intercooler for leaks, but just want to make sure i wont blow the engine up when giving some beans

please dont think im in anyway saying anything against jgm.
he did my car proud, just want to make sure my car dont go pop.
im hoping its something silly, as i did change a couple of bits befor the map took place.
could be even the altenator/power stearing pump or even the air con pump mak8ing the noise

and the gauge is in fact giving the wrong reading.
just need/want some ideas as to what/how to check it

right, thanks to a mateto night who brought another gauge for me to try.
i can rule out a boost problem, for the reason the gauge i thought i had, turns out to be in psi, and not bar.... say it, what a plonker.....

but checked via a bar type, and the boost is perfectly under limit.
but i still have this whiney sound.

so know the boost is ruled out, what else could i try

So you was reading 17psi as 1.7bar he he he.

Wining could be anything really mate, belt, pully, turbo or anything else, hard to diagnose on a forum.

my mate pointed it out.
im quite tall, and siting in the car, you can not see the gauge in the pot, just the readings

its reading around 19psi not 1.9bar, i first put his gauge on the engine. and it had a different reading. he looked at mine, and, well lets say i put my head down quick, i ordered a bar type. but i fitted every thing together, never throught to check it, they was imported from usa too.

still, i took my mate in the car. he can put his finger on the wrine either, but says the same as you mate, could be an idaler or belt ect, it was all new when i built the engine.
could still also be the power stearing pump.

still, pm'ed jgm. tell him its nothing to do with boost
still, what a plonker hay....
