Exclamation MY99/00... LOW FUEL WARNING LIGHT???

Does the MY98-00 facelift fuel gauge have a low fuel warning light?

Or did Subaru deem that such a 'premium' feature would be wasted on the typical average owner?

(I'm sure this question has been asked/answered before... but my web browser is being gay at the mo, and I can't access the search tab. )

Really?!!! Where/what is it?

Is it the little petrol pump graphic that lights orange or something? (Obviously I've so far not let my level get low enough yet )

i have a late 98 and the light does come on, but not until the needle is right at the bottom of the scale - level with the centre dash of the E. Keeps going right down to the bottom of the E too, and take 53 litres to get to the top from there. Supposed to hold 55litres so i've never let it get lower than that - usually fill it when the orange light comes on.

Hope that helps!

Fab Rich.

I'm guessing the light is cited in that weird shaped recessed panel (panel looks grey) in the bottom left of the binnacle?

I brimmed up the other day, and it displaced 47.5 litres.

That's only 2.5 litres away from max. But no light came on when it was low.

Mind, the needle was just above the top of the "E", so, according to the above, nowhere near low enough to trigger the light...???

Well that's certainly true of the MY93-96 phase 1s. Weird of Subaru, innit?

I'm half tempted to run mine until the light comes on now, just to see it! Normally I fill up the 1/4 mark. So does any one know if there is a self test for the instrument cluster? That way I could see if mine works!

Yeah, I'm wondering if mine is working.

If you do run it down, make sure you drive off boost and cruise round corners...

The light on mine comes on when I am down to about 8 ltrs, tried this when I changed my fuel pump and was surprised how much fuel was still in the tank.

Update...

Hoorah. It works!

The needle was all but at the same position as last time ... So last time I must have literally been droplets away from it coming on, anyway!

the needle has to be right down to the bottom of the gauge (as per the pic) before the light comes on, but sometimes it can drop below E before it comes on!?

I rarely let it get that low though
