How easy is it to put a car into gear from the gearbox end. The gearstick is just flopping around but im led to believe with some basic tools i can get the car in gear.

Basically i have bought the car in this condition and need to get it onto the ferry in Troon. I dont really want the expense of taking another car over to tow it back. The car is only a few miles from the ferry so getting it moving would be a bonus and a £ Saver.

If i can get into gear i can drive it onto the ferry.

Edit to add car is a 94 legacy

easy enough if you jack it up you should be able to reach the gear linkage and pull it back, this should engage 1,3,5
