Default version 2 sti intercooler

Hi, I would really appreciate some info about classic intercoolers and pipework.

http://img299.imageshack.us/i/sunp0009d.jpg/

this is my turbo to intercooler pipe, obviously it is damaged and will not seal correctly to the blue conector pipe (likely to be a bodge by previous owner??).

My questions:
  1. is this the corect intercooler/pipe for a classic v2 sti?
  2. are intercoolers different or interchangeable between versions and/or sti, wrx, uk cars?
  3. what options do I have for upgrading as this seems to be a design weakness?

cheers,
Kev

blue piece of samco-type hose was conecting the intercooler inlet to the turbo. does that answer your question?

that's what I thought, a bodge fix. but is the intercooler pipe the right one or is it not right for the car?

thanks for reply
