P0546 is the EGT in the up-pipe. It means that your precat is on fire, the sensor is knackered or it has been removed to make way for a decat up-pipe. Given your other mods it may be the third option.

yeah that could make it come on you can remove it and blank it off but you will still have a CEL unless you fit a resistor in and that will stop it coming on or if your getting a remap the mapper can remove the CEL perminently

Hello thanks for the replies, I have been away with work and just took me 6.5 hours to travel from manchester to brighton........ Shattered.

I will look at the spark plugs tomorrow and check the pre-cat and sensor. Think that i will check over the coil packs too..

Does any one know which one cylinder 4 is?

Thanks peevee,

Had a look at the pre cat and that is there as is the sensor! Might change the sensor. There is no signs that it has ever been moved!

Any one Sell ngk pfr7b plugs and a sensor? Cheers

if this is because of the cat being removed then the most easy fix is to get a "CEL fix" from ebay they are about £8 and do work got 1 on mine and no cel and are easy to fit just bolts in and sensor bolts into that

Just to clarify, this is just a reader, all it will do is give you codes, those codes may or may not point to the issue at hand, if you want a full diagnostic then you have to put the car on a diagnostics machine, then throw the reader in the bin as it will probably cost you far more than a 40 quid diagnostics session will in the long term.

Understood there Tony, but the point at when you have at least tried to solve the problem yourself. If it is only a sensor then thats a bit of cash saved, if the problem persists after the return of the issue. You then go to a diagnostics machine.

Its also a nice feeling to be involved with the process in getting it fixed.

When you spend 200 quid on a sensor and its not the problem, the 40 quid diagnostics seems about 160 quid cheaper
This being my point, the reader only reads errors, it cannot say what is at fault, only give you a list of what the ecu "thinks" is at fault, and they are not always right

Tony

Can see where your coming from Tony, But i have spent £20 on a reader and pinky has kindly sent me a sensor, If, after i have replaced the sensor, the problem persists. Then i will take it in. This is the point i am trying to get too. So Im ina win win situation.
Besides all that, to be honest i think the pre cat is on its way out. There is alot of lag on my car and then it boosts way above the norm ( please see other post ) .

Basically ive bought this car for a good price and am trying to get it back to a standard condition and the engine running sweet so i can then start modding sensibly.
Im also learing along the way.

If the problem still persists, give me a shout and i'll sort it out for you...

I can datalog the ecu to work out what the problem actually is, and turn off the code in the ecu, if necessary

Hello people sorry i havnt replied sooner been working away all week.

Pinky i have received the sensor and many thanks. I havnt hadf a chance to fit yet. Should be tomorrows job ( weather permitting )

Today i managed to fit a new boost solenoid to try and sort my boosting issues .

Also have fitted a new exhaust as the last, STI genome, was mated to a miltek centre pipe and didnt work so i chopped it in for a scooby world cat back system and now im .

Also got rid of the awful induction kit and now have the original box, snorkel and a blitz panel filter. Car feels alot better but still has a lumpy feel to it and feels like its holding back still but spark plugs are next.

Admittedly after all the work was done today i took it for a run of about 25 miles and the warning light never come on.

Car is still boosting very high 18 + psi considering it is all standard. Also very lumpy and jumpy pulling away. Spark plugs are getting checked tomorrow......
