Petrol flap does not spring out
Hi guys
Can someone explain (or even better take a picture) of where the spring should go in the inside of the petrol filler flap on a classic?
I can not for the life of me work it out!
Everything was working fine until a few days ago when the grey plastic thing snapped, and the v shaped spring fell off from somewhere
Cheers

See here:-
1999 CLASSIC PETROL FLAP RELEASE ISSUE...!?!
I hope yours isn't like mine i.e. doesn't have that spring-loaded hinge, so therefore cant release it from inside the car, using that release lever.

Hi,
The same thing happened on my my99 classic.
The spring slides into grooves on the grey plastic clip held in place by a raised tag between the grooves. The grey plastic clip then slides onto the metal tag sticking out of the inside of the flap.
The Plastic clip will need to be repaired/replaced to make it work again.
At the moment I wedge a pen under the release lever inside the car when I want to open the flap, so that I can the pull the flap open.
Hope this helps.
Regards
Stuart
