Default compression test pointers please

I have bought a compression test kit and gonna do test on my 96sti tomorrow with the help of a mate.. recently had a test done but i think the results are in accurate..

Just after a few pointers please.. should test be done with engine hot or cold? should only 1 plug be removed at a time or does not matter? how many times should i turn the engine turn over for an accurate result?

Also i understand if a cylinder is down on compression to drop a little oil in and test again to see if it has raised.. right?

Hello mate, do the compression test on a cold engine and do it by removing one spark plug at a time.

when cranking the engine over keep cranking until the prssure guage shows the highest reading the write the result down and replace plug and move onto the next. Any probs give us a shout.

My brother tested mine when the engine was hot with 1 plug removed at the time and crank it a few times until it gets the highest reading if it does. readings on mine were 145 psi on each side. probably different for each car.

you drop the oil in after doing a dry test mate this is to test for wear on piston piston rings etc if the result is alot differnt then this could be your problem for low compression the result should change though even if piston and rings are good but shouldnt be alot differnt from dry and wet test
