Default classic engine re-build advise please

Have a 1997 classic import and have a bottom end knock.
Can you remove the bottom end crank out of the engine without taking the engine out of the car.
Any advise on the engine re-build appreciated, also on the look out for a haynes manual

Thanks guys

nope. engine out. crank is connected to the rods in the middle of the block. engine out, heads off, block split.

best advice.....get someone who knows what they are doing to do the rebuild. you will save money in the long run

As per bigsinky, it will be an engine out, all parts like oil pump, modine etc need replacing, engine needs deswarfing or your just going to have another failure.
Try API, they are in warwickshire, www.apiengines.com/index3.php

Sometime wish they did lol Where abouts are you mate we might be able to help you find the closest recommended workshop??

You can save yourself alot of money by taking the lump out your self thats what i done and if you've got experiance working on motors and don't mind getting your hands dirty its not too bad.

Loads of people on here could litteraly guide you through doing it lol
