(wrx 1994) i had a problem with my maf as my car kept stalling so i bought a new maf and car started and idled until i took it up the road ,when i stopped at junction it started to idle at between 1800 and 2000 revs which is 1000 more than it should then when it hits boost it hesitates and engine check light comes on and stays on, im realy at a loose end with this car as its been playing up none stop for the last 2 weeks now

 

Did you do an ECU reset when you swapped the MAF over? It'll still be trying to compensate for your malfunctioning old MAF if you didn't, so that might account for some part of the problem.

 

i took the battery off at the same time (saturday) so i thought that would reset it

 

would be best to read the codes via the wires under the dash and also do a reset using them

 

rite.. took car into extreme scoobies on friday as they said leave it with them , the problems they had to sort was knock sensor and a knackered alternator, i asked paul to fit my decat pipe as he also said i needed a new lambda sensor so hopefully this will give my wagon a new lease of life and now i car progress with body work
