Default Engine revs constant and high

Hi all,

Bit of a problem appeared today during warm up, car started no problem as usual but instantly sounded a bit high, revs stuck at 2000 and could only go higher. Since have simtek, I tried the mot map and full power map using switches but that made no difference, then found if use anti lag the idle would drop to 1500 - enough to switch it off.
I did clean the IVC the other day and replaced the gasket. Checked all sensor connections around inlet and then started her up again, was fine for bit then raised to 4000 without me even touching the throttle! Had to again use anti lag switch to get idle down to switch off.

Any ideas?

Sounds possibly like an air leak somewhere. Have disturbed any vaccum pipes?

Hey, would an air leak give you constant revs though, without touching the throttle? I'd replaced the IVC gasket when I'd cleaned it with new rubber from dealer. It was fine after I did that a week or so ago. I;ve checked all other pipes, cant find a disconnected one. I dont get how the engine revs can jump so high without throttle first, when she went to 4000 I'd not even touched the throttle. I'll check my AVC-r to see what the throttle position says again revs, I know it was reading 4000 so that means ecu was seeing 4000 also.

Mate, mine is exactly the same, spent many an hour searching for this air leak and its driving me nuts, ive managed to narrow mine down to being between TB and the heads.

Good luck with yours

Get yourself some brake and clutch cleaner, run the engine and spray very small areas at a time, when you get a change in revs you narrowed it down to a small area. You can then inspect the relevent pipes.

Thanks guys, I've cleaned off the old rubber seal on ICV as found a few lumps there. Ran her again and she was perfect...will try her again today to see if issue fixed, sure hope so.

Cheers
