Default Nitrous kit - Advise

Hi All,

I am thinking of getting a Nos Nitrous Kit fitted.

I have a few questions though, so here goes....

1. How much would it cost including installation?

2. Do you need to upgrade any major engine parts?

3. Has anyone had it done? Tell me your thoughts please

Cheers

Nitrous just increases the amount of oxygen given so fuel can be increased with it = power.

Why are you not remapping with increased boost? Is that not easier?

Ask the Wizard of Nos....

A 50 bhp kit may sort you out, but 100 bhp kit could kill your engine.

It mostly depends on the ecu you use, or the additional electronics you use when the NO2 is "on".

You already have 320bhp on a WRX with standard internals. The NOS will kill the engine. So full forged re-build will be needed. Even then the block is open deck IIRC so I wouldn't advise trying to push too much out of it. Cost of the Nitrous kits can vary depending on setup with controllers or swapping your ECU for one that can control Nitrous etc.. like Dunx has already mentioned. The basic kit sounds like a cheap way to get extra power, but it will cost much more than that for a good reliable setup IMO.

Subaru's don't like Nitrous Oxide. I used to sell ZEX Nitrous Oxide Kits (fantastic kits by the way), and every single Impreza that fitted a kit blew a motor pretty quickly. I would rather say spend approx double the money and get a bigger turbo!

I really wouldn't bother. Everyone says its cheap easy power. That's until your standard engine goes bang and it then costs you thousands.

Go other routes first such as a forged build bigger turbo and a remap.

But to reiterate I would never put Nitrous on a standard engine!!!
