hi everyone im new to the forum. i've recently bought a 96 uk 2000 impreza and it has just started leaking water out water pump which i know is common. before the leak started in the mornings the engine check light would come on for around two mins then go out, but didnt do it every morning, ive had the sniff test done but it didnt change colour. the garage said it could still be head gasket as it pressuring and filling expansion bott;e. and help would be appreciated.

 

alright mate scoobys do have atendency of running with abit of pressure but if u leave the expansion bottle lid of from cold and run it up to temp and it comes up and over flows then chances are she done in the gasket.Ryan

 

Thought the water pumps were pretty good on these, not many probs. Try changing your rad cap as that might just be old and tired.
