I have a 1998 WRX STI4. I think the airflow meter has died. Symptoms are:
With air flow sensor connected, engine will hardly run at all. However, the 'CHECK ENGINE' light is not on.
With air flow sensor dis-connected, the engine will run, although lumpily & with little power. The 'CHECK ENGINE' light is on.
Can anyone shed any light? If it is the sensor, where do I get another?

All help appreciated, as I'm fed up of driving a WRX with zimmer frame power levels...

Hi.
i am sure it is the MAF sensor.
A friend of mine had the same problem and there was no check light.it was the MAF sensor.
Changed it and the problem went away.

DO YOU HAVE AIR FILTER,NOT PAPER AIR FILTER CAN MAKE PROBLEMS LIKE THIS.
YOU CAN GET FLOW METER FROM GGR.
DO YOU NOW WHERE CAN I GET DETAELS ABOUT PRODRIVE KIT?
