81mm crank (non billet) for 2.6 stroker
Hi, I'm looking for an 81mm crank that will be good for 400-450hp all day in an EJ257. Since the Cosworth 81mm crank is about eight million quid, I'd be looking for on that is 'at most' nitrided. Correct me if I'm wrong, I gather even a standard STI crank is good for ~450hp. If so then a version of this in 81mm would be all I need.
Been looking at the 2.6 Cosworth stroker kit, however I'm not looking for more than about 400ish hp so I don't need a crank made of Unobtanium or Duranium or whatever the hell it is.... While I'm aware that I don't 'need' a stroker kit for 400hp but then neither does a car need 400hp so it's rather beside the point. I've never had a stroker kit, I want it but I'm not throwing £2000 at Cosworth just for the crank!! It's bad enough that the 2.5 conversion is about £6000 so to pay £3500 on top for a 2.6 stroker kit is hard to swallow. £2500 I could just about live with.
