Exclamation MY98-00 FACELIFT INTERIOR QUESTION...???

I might be PX'ing my current 1993 WRX for a gleaming white 4-door STi VI soon...

Question: do the facelift interiors of the MY98-00 cars still have that handy pull-out double drinks holder, like the MY93-97 pre-facelift cars do... or at least a drinks holder elsewhere in the car, etc.? lol

Single drink holder above the stereo and a drink holder inbetween the front seats

Another question...

Can a Z32 MAF physically fit in the MY99/00 inlet trunking and be wired up and scaled (in a remap) - whether using EcuTek on the OEM ECU, or with a Apexi PFC???

Talking of which, what's the bhp potential of the "fragile" OEM MY99/00 MAF?

Yes. However, in my experience, on the "green stripe" design sensors, there's less need to muck about than there used to, my current one's now three and a half years old and still reads just as it did when new. There are also now some handy alternatives - not least the newage one.

Bob's had 420 out of one reliably - not sure whether that was a "spot" or a "stripe" sensor - would presume the latter.

Oh, great info on both questions - cheers The Oracle (BTW, do you bake cookies in your spare time lol ).

That's good that the OEM one flows over 400bhp.

I already have a Z32 that I was gonna fit to my 1993 (with other mods etc), so nice to know it can be used on the MY99/00 too (even though I prob now won't "need" it if I fit/map a 20g/550cc/FMIC ).

So SP, the green STRIPE one is the more durable/higher airflow, right? Is the striped one std fitment in a STi v.6 anyway? Where can you get these from (aside from ruddy main stealers)? Presumably Import Car Parts do 'em, etc. for c. <£100?

I can't cook but I'm good with a soldering iron.

That info's from Bob so might be worth checking his project thread, or with the man himself, whether or not he was using a larger measuring tube. Either way though the sensor and ECU are more than capable. With a suitable sensor and firmware the ECU is capable of much, much more than that.

The green stripe is more reliable than the earlier ones yes. It wouldn't have been standard factory fit in a 6 as it's an evolved/uprated design that was introduced sometime around 2005. The other handy thing about the green stripe sensors is that they have a manufacturing date code on them so you can tell at a glance how old they are - and therefore if you've just bought a car you can get a rough idea how long the installed unit has been in use.

ICP do them cheaper than a dealer, as does Alyn at ASP.

Brilliant stuff, cheers!

Can you indicate how that date code reads/deciphers - so I'll know when I/if I need/want to fit one...

I haven't seen enough of them to work out the entire code - but the first number is the most important. It's the year of manufacture - so in "8115" for example, 8=made in 2008. Whether the remaining three figures are the day, or a week/day, batch or whatever I'm not sure (yet).

it's printed on the lower side of the mounting flange so you'll need a mirror to read one installed in the car.
