Default walbro fuel pump help

hi guys just tried fitting a walbro pump to a classic should it be straight swap? should i have to connect any wires as the red and black have no connecter and worried bout joining wire s in tank cheers rob

solder them is safest way and less chance of sparkin etc

but i gotta join the red and black to the connecter which is fixed inside the connecter so would have to join further down the wire s. what has every1 else done ?

It wont be a straight swap unless your classic is a late 99/2000,in which case it just plugs in.In any case ,just undo the 2 screws holding the wires onto your old pump,then snip off connectors,join red to red & black to black,and solder as said above.Fit the pump in the carriage ,you may have to use a couple of cable ties to keep it secure ,then plugthe connector into the pump ,dont worry about the extra length of the wire simply wrap them and with eletrical tape and a cable tie,secure above the pump. Refit pump back into tank ,making sure you dont catch the sender unit ,secure with your 8 x 8mm nuts then start up - dead easy , Or follow this link :
