Angry 1995 wrx sti import engine problem

Hi everyone, my mate has a impreza sport but has put a 2.0l import wrx sti engine in it and whenever he goes round islands quick it cuts out. It is standard apart from a remap and he doesn't know what is wrong with it. Any help from scooby heads would be really appreciated. Thanks Kighty

Sounds like fuel starvation. Did he do the engine transplant himself?

Yes, he has insured it correctly. Yes, everything on it is wrx standard apart from the remapped ecu. He has also changed the drivetrain and dash to suit the wrx sti import engine. He had problems with it spluttering and changed the pipes and fuel pump and it runs fine now apart from when he goes round an island to quick, it cuts out. It is only runnin 1 bar boost too.

Fuel surge in the tank. Perhaps the pump fitted is sitting a little higher than it should. I had this problem on the track and had to fit a swirl pot.

Seems a lot of bother considering the age of the car, wouldn't it have been simpler to purchase a genuine WRX?

Easiest way to check is if he fills her up with petrol and it no longer happens you know thats the fault.

Thanks for replys. Yes, he should have just purchased a genuine wrx. Its the second engine he has put in it as he blew the 1st engine he put in it so its prob cost him more money than buying a genuine wrx. I will ask him if it does cut out when full and let you know. Again thanks for the replys.
