l reg sti want more power ?
Any1 know any cheap mods 2 get more power out of L reg sti import with an air filter and equal length headers, whatever that does. The 112 mph limit took off it already (under £100 would be good.) Any1 got some goodies to sell? What power r these anyway? 260 standard ? what is safe to take them up to without shortening the life of engine? How much more does a decat give you?

250bhp standard, and I wouldnt do too much as that will shorten your engine life when it dets
There are 2 ways to modify a scoob, the correct way and the wrong way, the correct way will mean that the car is mapped for your modifications and has supporting mods like better brakes, suspension, mapped ecu etc, the wrong way is trying to do it on a very small budget and ending up with a very very large bill.
Do the brakes first, cost you abotu 250 quid for the subaru 4 pots which are a big step up over the 2 pots, adding ported or equal length headers will require a remap or a new engine as that can be the outcome in most cases.
i would also invest in a KS3 (google it) knock analyser.

Dont take anything for granted, so many people just put things on and leave them, the outcome are things like melted pistons (3k engine rebuild please ) and you can only chip your ecu on that model car, so its recommended to get a mapper to check if its been done or not, the KS3 will show you if your car is detting, that in itself can lead to terminal engine failure, also 3k to fix as its the engine that will need rebuilding.
Go get a health check on your car, I would try someone like area 52 who are in your area

no would be the answer to the equal length headers, only really needed if the car is going to be pushing big power and as tony has said get it checked out somewhere. a rolling road session wouldn't be a bad start if you haven't got much money as they can see how the car is performing and whether its running lean or rich.
