Default bug eye ssqv problems

hi
I have a 51 bugeye. remaped by duncan running a ssqv2 3" s/s system and air filter. all been fine but my bov does seam to blow everytime and i belive i hear the waste gate working alot. its fine for couple miles then stops working so last night i cleaned out the valve yes a little dirt but was clean otherwise. oiled the shaft and checked the seals etc. rebuilt the bov and fitted to my car. left me workshop and it work at low boost and high and i got back the loud noise that it makes. 6 miles in to driving the bov stoped and then just makes a small psssst noise which i belive is the primay valve but i can not get the loud full bore noise. borrowed a boost meater from work check vac and boost looks ok. do these valve play up or do i have another problem. im not going back to the baileys one. can i get away with the stanard one venting to atomspere?
