Default Standard 6 speed clutch Bhp Figures

What power does the standard 6 speed clutch take?

Bhp / torque

Depends how you drive and what you are doing.

My OE Spec C clutch (same as any old age equivalent STi one) was still going strong at circa 26k miles, after a lot of abuse (full bore standing starts a plenty) at 370/350.

forget BHP it's torque that kills clutches, and I wouldn't touch a clutch who's supplier use horse power as a measure of it's ability.

Mine lasted till seven years old, no drag starts and slipped at 400/360....

Mike Wood ex-Prodrive PM'd me to say that the odd launch is o.k., but slipping it will do it no good what so ever.

There are two models of 6 speed clutch - which one are you asking about?
The one for the 2.5 engine is uprated for the higher torque but they are interchangeable.

Edit - if its my one you're asking about then its the better version. Reputed to cope with 400ish lbft.

Zak said mine should cope with the 321T on the standard 2 Litres. Again he said it was the torque that would kill it not the Bhp. Your figures you should be fine M8

will any 6 speed clutch work? 2.5 or 2.0 suppose at the end of the day they are the same clutch just one will take more torque

Mine lasted about 7000 miles running 430/375. No launches, but enthusiastically driven everywhere.

Since you have a six speed box, ignore his reply - its only relevant to a 5 spd box.

Both 2.5 & 2.0 clutch kits are physically the same sizes, that's what makes them interchangeable. The 2.5 clutch disc is uprated for more torque.

as i have heard to get the best OE spec is to mix and match ie. get the 2.5 friction plate, etc
