Default Calling out for ECU experts

Just wanted to pick brains really,i have an MY98 uk turbo 2000 saloon, with an ecu coded 8S,i think the ecu has a fault and wanted to replace it,now at this moment in time i don't want to go down the aftermarket ecu route,so was wondering if any other code of oem ecu would be ok,it is a three plug ecu

I think you may find that the only direct replacement for that ECU is another one. The only possible alternative would be an MY97 Turbo 2000 ECU - and if I recall correctly they use the 8S/AD190 as well.

Also note that if you change it, you'll need the immobiliser in the new one re-coded to accept the transponders in your keys, it isn't a simple plug and play swap.

Yes it would.

dealer can recode keys..

but all that aside.. why do you think there is any issue with the ecu?
