Does a my96 STI RA need a remap?
just got back into subaru ownership and got myself a lovely my96 sti ra. it has a tanabe full exhaust, no cats. the question is, does it NEED a remap at the moment? what year did japan start using 100 ron fuel, what ron did they use before that?
obviously, at some point i will get the car remapped because i intend to have it tweeked here n there, but for now, is it safe to run on optimax, maybe with octane booster too?
many thanks for any advice

Needs octane booster or a remap for V-power or other fuel .. or may go POP but with current Tesco fuel 99+ octane and good Shell V-power may well be OK.
AFAIK all Jap STi's were set up for 100 RON.

hello,
Vmax or tesco99 will be fine in your ra as already said
for more info see here its purley ra based info
www.typera.co.uk
once you have a remap/ecutek ,simtek etc you can run on 97 etc and have different maps for different fuels etc
but the higher the ron rated the better performance you will have anyway, so run on the good stuff, oh and you wont need a octane boosted when running v-max or tesco 99
