Currently my RB5 has a decat centre section and prodrive exhaust - sounds pretty good, but now and then I'll see/hear a classic blast past me and it makes my hair stand on end. Some of the cars I've heard sound so incredibly crisp, they sound as though they're cutting through the air and the burble is absolutely defined without being muffled at all.

So, is this sound achievable without a full decat? I'm reluctant to go down that route, as I'm concerned about MOT failure.

What exhaust could I get that'd make my car sound that little bit crisper? I don't want anything ludicrously loud, I still want to hear people talking in it - but I do want it to have that edge that so many cars I hear seem to have found.

Also while I'm here I have a slightly unrelated question - when I start the car from cold in the morning, I get white fumes from the exhaust for a good minute or so before it warms up. This is regardless of the air temperature (in my experience with other cars you only get this when the air temp is cold and the car is burning water vapour from the exhaust). Is this normal? I quite like it. Makes me feel like I'm driving a rocket ship.

No smoke should be coming out your engine you should not be likeing it! get it checked.

There's no smoke coming out of the engine - it's just vapour/fumes coming from the exhaust. I'm used to only seeing that at cold temperatures, but in my car it seems to happen on a cold start every morning even when the temperature isn't cold. (note, when i say cold start, i mean when the car has been standing over night).

 

from what iv heard on you tube i would say the apexi n1 or the hks hyper. do a search on you tube, both sound superb imo. angry, like a proper scoob. lol.
