Default Brake System Warning light

Hello Folks
I have a 2004 wrx and the brake system warning light came on. Checked the brake fluid and it was fine checked the pads the rear pads about 2mm left on them so just changed them today. The car now stops much better, at 30 mph it stops in just under a cars length however the brake system warning light is still on.
Can anyone tell me how to reset this.
Cheers

Hi not entirely sure if this would be the case on a newage impreza but here goes

Have you checked if your brake lights are working? Could be the brake light switch on the brake pedal (had that on a golf once)

Handbrake lever switch too?

Is it the ABS light that is on, as i found having both stop lights out, when i read the ABS ECU it came back with error code stop light switch, but turned out to be 2 blown stop light bulbs. This is on a classic though.
