Default Bit of direction I think.

Guys my Tinkering seems to have come to a halt.
The car is a 2003 Sti, Standard internals (looking at a stroker 2.1 but want to keep it internal standard as long as I can), MD321T, 650 PE injectors, full 3" decat, lateral headers, RCM K&N cone filter, fuel pump, fuel reg, APS DR725 intercooler.
All suspension sorted too.
I'm thinking would changing the ecu really benefit (really want to rid the air flow meter) what I have already and if so which one to go for (preferable a unit Andrew Carr can map).
Constructive comments welcome.

You can make 430-450 with the std ECU and MAF sensor. Just requires the right ECU hacks. You can even go MAFLESS on the std ECU if you like but that's just a little more involved on the hardware side and involves relocating your MAF sensor so the IAT sensor can be used to measure charge air temps just before the throttle body.

The standard MAF will accurately read up to 350-370g/s of air which is enough for your 450bhp. You might lose a tiny bit of low end resolution in the MAF scaling but it will still drive very well at that. I know of cars making 500bhp+ on the std MAF sensor using a larger diameter MAF tube.

Anything is possible

You can take the OE ECU all the way to 500 bhp.
If getting rid of the MAF is what you want to do which makes a big induction kit that much easier then consider a Simtek.
If you are on standard internals and getting the best out of an MD321T with 650cc injectors you are in the 450 plus ballpark and therefore your engine is on borrowed time.

The guy that maps my car maps it knowing the engine is internally standard, has anyone actually proved at what power the internals give up?
My mapper knows of 3 newage sti's running 450 and neither have gone bang yet.

If you are running factory bore clearance, ie the bores have not been honed to increase clearance, then at 450 bhp which is typically what a 321T will do, it is only a matter of time before you pick up a piston in the bore. I know first hand of many such disasters on standard engines/pistons below 400 bhp.
