Default Boost leak testing

Im trying to check for intercooler piping leaks, and having done a bit of research, made up a valve in a cap, that I could insert into the silicone piping and pressurise with a pump.

I put the cap in where the MAF goes, but couldnt get any pressure at all, which I know isnt right as it does work! (You might ask why Im testing- I just want to make very sure as turbo spools a little later than I expected)

Has anyone got any suggestions based on their experience? I was wondering if I might need to block off the other end of the throttle body, or insert it after the turbo?

I was also wondering if anyone had tried any kind of fogging spray?

Cheers

Grant

Generally if you have a boost leak you can see signs of oil mist around one of the pipes. Sometimes you'll hear a whooshing noise. You won't build any pressure where the maf goes cos it's not sealed. What model do you have?

Its a 98- I also use it as my hillclimb car, and have o.3 of a second to make over a minute to retake my record, so I want to feel sure there isnt even a small leak as that mayy be the difference!

Issue is that muppets overfilled the oil badly a while back, when they fitted the oil cooler, so there is oil in the pipes from then. I cleaned out the one just after the turbo, and its not built up again, so dont think there is a turbo seals issue.

Teah- as part of my Blitz DSBC- hold 1.27 bar at the upper end, but its not on full boost til 4.3k, and 1 bar not til nearly 4k, hence why Im trying to eliminate things.

Thats with a twin scroll turbo on a classic- VF37 with all supporting mods, exhausts and downpipe, Simtek, injectors etc
