k&n or apexi are the best type of filter to use if you have to! hks is a foam type which uses oil on the filter and these type can shorten the life of ur maf so cone type only (dry filter)

Really anything that takes in heat from the engine bay will reduce your power so either a cold air induction kit in the wing or back to the standard setup (or standard type setup using a box and the kit in that to stop the heat being absorbed back into the engine).

would be grateful if you can follow up your experience of the Roger Clark when you get it. I was just reading up about those myself and am getting to the conclusion that Mr Clark knows what he's doing

I ended up getting a Green Cotton panel filter for my 55 WRX. It seems more responsive but thats cos I was hoping it would be. Also if you listen real careful you can hear a small sucking sound too - bonus.

Will see what bhp (if any) i get on rolling road. May yet swap for induction kit as I need some more noise and power.

Did you re-scale the MAF and then re-map it? If you don't it may run like crap.

I put a GGR cone on mine and made an insulated air box for it. Was a bit hesitant till I re-scaled the MAF a couple of times. Now I just need to tweak the AFRs slightly for safety but it's way more responsive than before. Get a really loud woosh when it goes on boost too. My airflow is up by 16% in some parts of the MAF scale. I'm not sure but I suspect that could be getting into 'death by leaning' if I didn't tell the ECU.
