Anyone scoped the wheel speed sensor for speedometer on MY99 classic?
Hi all
Has anyone scoped the VSS feed into the instrument cluster on a MY99 vehicle? Eg the line which you cut to put a kph>mph converter into.
I'm curious to know what the signal is, eg pattern, peaks, frequency and/or duty-cycle..
Any info greatly appreciated..
Cheers

no, but i would imagine its a short pulse ie logic 1 as the speed sensor is a proximity sensor (hall effect), located in the gearbox looking at some kind of flag, maybe off the final drive.

Right, wasn't sure if it was inductive or hall effect. That simplifies things somewhat! I'll have a play with the func gen on a spare set of clocks i've got here. Thanks for your help.

Just done a bit of revision and it should be a uniform square wave - hall effect into wikipedia ..
Why do you want to know this ?
There is a chip you can buy to solder behind clocks to convert kph to mph you know ?
