Apexi power FC knock link help
First of all, is this measuring engine noise or detonation or is it the same thing?
I have a 1997 uk turbo on 125,000 plus miles, it is a noisy engine, as driving around it goes up to 3 or 4, I have it so that the bar moves across and it retains the highest number it has reached, eg, 4.
What do the numbers relate to, is it a scale, is 0 no knocking/noise, what is the number to watch out for, if you take it to about 6,000 rpm it gets up to 13/14, which I know isn't good, but I don't drive it like that very often.
Any help would be appreciated, I want to understand more about it,
Thanks

The rough ballpark max knock level for a MY97/98, IIRC from a JGM post, is around "30" (but each engine is unique obviously). So those knock levels seem to be fine i.e. not detonating.
If worried, contact your mapper - he'll know what he set it at, etc. and advise you accordingly.
