Well if your still on a standard 2ltr engine I wouldnt go for a td05 20g, that in itself will probably be terminal, your gearbox is one of the weaker ones so torque could be an issue with the gearbox and clutch, fitting the 2.5 will also cause you issues with the gearbox and clutch as there is more torque produced out of the standard 2.5 than there is the 2ltr due to displacement, then there is the mapping, forged internals you need etc.
If you have deep pockets you should be ok, put 10k to one side and see what you have left at the end (probably not much!)

Even if you fit/map the 20g/555cc on your exisitng 2.0L in the meantime, then you'll be risking the box anyway. You'll be making around 380/360, so that latter torque figure is going to test the gearbox to the hilt (depending on how you treat it). But it wll be a matter of "when" rather that "if"!
The 2.5 will compromise it even more as the extra airflow will drive the 20g harder, and the extra 500cc wil also give proportionally more torque when compared to the bhp i.e. you'd be looking at upto 400/400!
You really need to set-up a savings acc. for a 6sp or PPG or Scooby Clinic box.....

your going to need to go for something very decent clutch wise, AP organic/twin plate, forget paddle clutches, forget the cheaper exedy ones, your going to need a heavy duty one, you could go paddle on a 6 speed box but they are all on/off and are a nightmare in slow traffic as you have to slip them a fair bit
Be warned, a decent clutch will set you back over 500 quid, but it will take the power
just look for one that will be good for atleast 450lbs of torque

This one is good for over 600lbs of torque, but you pay for it

Good for big big power.
Only running 365lbs at the mo - but works perfectly
