Default Engine rebuild advise - 99 uk classic

Hi all, decided to rebuild the engine in my99 uk turbo and need as much heads up as pos please

Done a few ford engines in the past but never done a scooby 1

Plan is to remove original engine and rebuild to a stronger spec " not wanting mega power but want to beable to give it some stick now and then without thinking its gunna kill it.

need advise on which gaskets are best & con rods etc etc
I know ill have to strip it down to see the extent of the damage but tbh i dont think there will be much, Had a mechanic take it for a drive today, didnt tell him what i suspected, he noticed header pipe was blowing slightly and didnt hear the bottom end while driving but could hear it while parked up after blipping the throttle

Cheers Andy

Here's what i used to build my engine with:

- head and block faces skimmed.
- bores re hatched.
- std crank with polished journals.
- manley conrods.
- mahle pistons.
- acl race big and main bearings.
- black rtv engine block/case sealant.
- brand new cosworth 12mm high flow oil pump.
- full engine gasket set.
- cometic headgaskets.
- dayco cambelt with new pulleys/tensioner(s)/idler bearings.
- new water pump.
- millers engine assembly lube.
- new headbolts.
- cdf racing alloy power pulleys.
- genuine sti filters.
- millers cfs 10/60 engine oil.
- xtralube zx1 engine oil additive (non particulate).
- ngk iridium spark plugs heat range 8.
- subaru specific engine coolant.

I know its an expensive list but at least i have only had to do the job once, the car gets pushed hard every day and never misses a beat and the build is nearly two years old now i dont know what the power output is as i havent had it dyno'd. I havent got the torq figures for your year of car but im sure if you google it you'll find something .
